CENTEXBEL
Description of partner
Centexbel (CTB) is the Belgian scientific and technical centre for the textile industry, located in the heart of the Belgian textile industry with strong links to the majority of the textile companies. CTB offers a complete range of standardised testing, it is a notified body for protective clothing, and can deliver CE marking and testing. CTB is also involved in standardisation committees and offers technological advice and training to companies in Belgium or abroad. Via a recent take-over of the “Flemish Plastic Centre” its expertise and services have been diversified towards the plastic and composite industry.
Project role
General project management and financial administration. Support to Dierickx Visschers in adaptation of natural fibre to novel formulations. Consolidate a circular economy with stakeholders.

DIERICKX VISSCHERS
Description of partner
Dierickx Visschers is a family business working with especially natural fibre products. Dierickx Visschers has several in house production technologies with focus on needle felt production. Needle felts are produced in a large variety of weight and quality, with a variety of natural fibres including flax, hemp and especially recycled jute. In addition, the possibility exists to combine it with in line finishing, coating and thermo-fixation. The production is focused on products for the technical textile market especially the agrotextile market, aiming at products with high performance and respecting the environment.

Production of natural fibres from agricultural waste. Pilot plant optimization. Industrialisation plan.
AVANTIUM CHEMICALS BV
AVANTIUM is a worldwide recognized leader (Cleantech Top 100 Company) in catalytic biomass conversion into furanic building blocks and high throughput technology. It has created an impressive patent portfolio in this area and is a proven adept of the open innovation model. From 2011 to 2015, these novel concepts will be demonstrated in a first of a kind pilot facility. AVANTIUM has over 140 employees and employs a team of 65+ highly educated professionals (more than 40 PhD’s) who are experts in biomass pre-treatment and conversion, humins, methyllevulinate, syngas chemistry, organic chemistry, catalysis, engineering of robotic systems, process engineering, statistics, analytics, chemo informatics and software development.
Project role
Production of natural resins from renewable resources. Pilot plant adaptation. Industrialisation plan.

CIDETEC
Description of partner
CIDETEC is a private organization for applied research founded in 1997 that seeks to contribute value to companies by harnessing, generating and transferring technological knowledge. Located in the Donostia-San Sebastián site of Gipuzkoa’s Scientific and Technological Park, CIDETEC is comprised of three international technological reference institutes in energy storage, surface engineering and nanomedicine.
Project role
Adaptation of recyclable composition, use of hardener adapted to biocomposites formulations.
AITIIP
AITIIP Technology Centre is an Innovation and Technology Centre for the development of projects in design and manufacturing of plastic material and transformation processes. In collaboration with other companies (mainly SMEs), technological centres and universities, AITIIP has extensive multidisciplinary knowledge on the Science-Technology industry.
Project role
Technical supervision. Dissemination and Communication planning. Adaptation and optimization of processing technologies (LRI and RTM). Manufacturing of samples for stakeholder validation.
SISPRA
Description of partner
Sispra is a Spanish based SME founded in 1998 and exclusively devoted to R&D and production of composite materials and parts. Our mission statement stresses the importance of innovating, designing and manufacturing the highest quality composite material parts, eliminating mass and reducing energy consumption focusing on environmental aspects, recycling and reusing of materials.
Project role
Validation of proposed solution. Manufacturing of proposed demonstrators. Definition of business case in collaboration with stakeholders.
CNRS
Description of partner
L’Institut de Chimie de Nice, (http://univ-cotedazur.fr/labs/icn/fris) a joint laboratory between CNRS and University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (UNS). It was founded in 1973 and gathers 52 permanent professors, assistant professors and researchers specialized in materials science and peculiar behaviours of condensed matter and over than 50 PhD student and postdoctoral fellows. ICN has an internationally recognized expertise in several fields including biomedicinal chemistry, bioactive molecules, radiochemistry, favour chemistry, molecular modelisation, biomass derived materials and valorisation of monomer/polymer from biomass into new commodity materials.
Project role
In collaboration with AVANTIUM for resins characterization, optimization of thermo-mechanical performances, industrialization and regional awareness. Transferability and replicability of the results. Dissemination.
